Michael S. Feldman, PhD
Chief Executive Officer
Michael S Feldman, PhD, Chief Executive Officer of BioMicro Systems, has held high level positions for well known companies as Quest Diagnostics, LabOne, SmithKline Beecham Clinical Laboratories, Roche Biomedical Laboratories (now known as Laboratory Corporation of America), Roche Diagnostic Systems, and Northwest Toxicology, including Vice President of Business Development, Senior Vice President and General Manager. A graduate of Rutgers University, Dr. Feldman received his Masters of Science degree in biochemistry from Drexel University and his doctorate from Chelsea College, Faculty of Medicine, University of London, England. He previously served as Deputy Director for the Sports Testing Center in Atlanta, providing drug-testing services to the International Olympic Committee for the 1996 Centennial Summer Olympic Games and Para-Olympic Games. He is an active consultant in the peer review process for the College of American Pathologists and the Department of Health and Human Services/National Laboratory Certification Program, and is a member of the Department of Transportation Federal Advisory Committee for Electronic Data Security, Storage and Transmission. He has also participated in working groups for the Drug Testing Advisory Board of Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. Dr. Feldman is currently a member of the Society of Forensic Toxicologists, the Society of Hair Testing and a Toxicology Fellow of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences.
Willem Spiegel, M.B.A.
Acting CFO
Mr. Spiegel has over 25 years of experience in finance
and financial management for publicly traded and privately
held companies in oil & gas, biotechnology and information
technology. During his career, Mr. Spiegel was instrumental
in a merger and the sale of two public biotechnology
companies and has been successful in raising over $60
million for three startup information technology companies.
He recently relocated to Salt Lake City where he is
working with early stage and middle market companies
to define and implement their financial strategies.
Prior to his move, Mr. Spiegel was the CFO at Fresher
Information Corp., a San Francisco based internet company.
He was a consultant for The Brenner Group and CFO for
Alexa Internet, which was acquired by Amazon.com. In
the biotechnology field he served as CFO for DNA Plant
Technology, acquired by ELM, and for Salt Lake City-based
Agridyne Technologies, which merged with Biosys and
Crop Genetics. Mr. Spiegel started his career with Royal
Dutch Shell, where he was assigned to various financial
and management positions in England, South Africa and
the U.S. Mr. Spiegel holds an M.B.A. from the University
of Chicago.
Nils Adey, Ph.D.
Chief Scientist
Dr. Adey is Chief Scientist and Head of Molecular Biology
at BioMicro Systems. He is the primary inventor of the
MAUI� System. Dr. Adey specializes in designing, instituting,
refining and troubleshooting laboratory processes and
experiments. Prior to joining BioMicro as Director of
Molecular Biology, Dr. Adey was Scientist 3 at Myriad
Genetics� technology development group where he was
responsible for implementing Myriad�s genomic technologies
across the entire organization. While at Myriad, Dr.
Adey also worked with the cancer and cardiovascular
gene discovery group. Further, Dr. Adey worked for Myriad�s
diagnostic group. Dr. Adey has authored 19 peer-reviewed
publications and been an inventor on 13 issued and pending
patents. Dr. Adey received his Ph.D. from the Department
of Microbiology and immunology, University of North
Carolina at Chapel Hill under the direction of Kenan
Professor Clyde A. Hutchison III, Ph.D.
Rob Parry, M.S.
Vice President of Manufacturing
Rob Parry, M.S., is the Vice President of Manufacturing at BioMicro Systems. Mr. Parry has held top level manufacturing positions in several instrument and consumable businesses. Most recently, he established and expanded the manufacturing operations for Nanosys, Inc., a leading nanotechnology company. As Vice President of Manufacturing at Fluidigm, a microfluidics start-up, and prior to that at Agilent Technologies in the DNA microarray business, Mr. Parry successfully developed and scaled-up commercial production for two completely novel technologies. His innovative and effective leadership delivered cost effective processes with consistent high quality and availability of products. Mr. Parry received a B.S.M.E. from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, and an M.S. from MIT in Operations Management and Technology Innovation.
Shelly Kaufman
Director of Corporate Administration
Ms. Kaufman brings more than 20 years of corporate and
administrative experience to BioMicro Systems. Prior
to joining BioMicro, she served as Director of Human
Resources for Advanced Technical Center where she developed
and managed strategic partnerships with Microsoft and
Novell. In this role, she was instrumental in growing
ATC from an early start-up to a top ranked technical
training center and managed the client services, administration
and finance departments. Prior to ATC, Ms. Kaufman managed
a small medical office for 15 years.

Board of Directors
Stephen Blose, V.M.D., Ph.D.
Chairman of the Board
Dr. Blose is the C.E.O. of Mill Valley Summit Group,
LLC (MVSG). Before founding MVSG in 2003, he was the
Division General Manager, Imaging Products Division,
at Bio-Rad Laboratories Inc., a $950 million company.
During his six years there, he was in charge of over
140 employees in R&D, global manufacturing, and sales
& marketing. He also had responsibility for acquisitions
for the division. Prior to that, he was President and
C.E.O. of Protein Databases, Inc. (PDI), a company providing
software, databases, instruments, and services for the
global proteomics market. Steve was one of the founders
of the proteomics industry. He came to PDI from the
Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory NY, where he was a Senior
Scientist working for Dr. James D. Watson, Nobel Laureate
(co-discoverer of DNA), and Laboratory Director. Prior
to that, Steve held joint appointments as a Research
Assistant Professor in the Departments of Pathology,
School of Medicine and Pathobiology, School of Veterinary
Medicine, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia.
Dr. Blose received degrees in veterinary medicine (V.M.D.)
and cell biochemistry/pathology (Ph.D.) from the University
of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia.
Arnold R. Oliphant, Ph.D.
Dr. Oliphant has worked in both human and agricultural genetics and has held executive positions at Myriad Genetics, Illumina and Complete Genomics. He was responsible for the design and implementation of the automated high-throughput sequencing systems for genetic sample analysis of breast and ovarian cancer, and the sequencing of the rice genome. Dr. Oliphant led the development of several high-throughput genotyping and expression analysis systems used throughout the world in the HapMap project and for expression analysis of paraffin embedded tissues. He currently leads the technology development of high-throughput genomic sequencing technologies at Complete Genomics. He has played key roles in successfully securing major funding and strategic affiliations with Bayer Pharmaceuticals, Glaxo, Syngenta, Hitachi, Roche, Schering AG and Monsanto. Dr. Oliphant received his Ph.D. in genetics from Harvard Medical School.
Greg Warnock
Mr. Warnock is a founder and Managing Director of vSpring
Capital with 10 years of private equity investing experience.
His investments and management oversight range from
biotechnology to software companies. Mr. Warnock has
a broad network in the Inter-mountain West and has been
a consultant and teacher to entrepreneurs both individually
and through organizations like the Wayne Brown Institute
where he is on the Board of Trustees and the Utah Angels
where he is a member.
